Why do I try so hard to eat better these days? Because I’ve got a lot to atone for. I’m from Arkansas and grew up almost full-time as a latch-key kid. So right there you’re combining a built-in hankering for salty crap, plus a dearth of nutritional supervision.
My Top 5

# Saltine crackers spread with margarine - trans fat on top of trans fat
# Canned tamales - it’s funny, because tamales (the real ones) are actually my all time favorite food.
# Steak-Ums - just horrifying
# Chewable vitamins - like candy, baby!
# Fritos dipped in Miracle_whip - believe it or not, possibly the least unhealthy thing on this list
Any hey, why not; let’s try to kick start a blog meme! I hearby tag a bunch of my fellow Boston-area food bloggers: Beyond Salmon, Off The Bone, Urban Drivel, Food on the Food, Sunday Night Dinner & Eat and Destroy.

Thanks for the tag! I feel all official and blogger-like
I love your blog. Always happy to find other Boston food bloggers. One day (far far away) it would be fun to organize a Boston blogger meet-up!
OMG! I never heard of anyone else eating saltines with margarine! I LOVED that as a kid. Oh who am I kidding, I still love it!
Awesome list!
I totally tried to propagate the meme on my blog. Only, I don’t have anything spectacularly gross or junky to report… I hardly ate anything, as a kid!
Update: even though I did not report anything spectacular, the idea is creating quite a stir. I don’t know if anybody will post their own 5 skeletons in the dresser, but for sure they are reporting about their favourite “edible” items in the comments!
did not know you considered yourself a “latch key” kid!
