Thanks to Danielle at Habeus Brulee for posting about these tasty looking thing-a-bobs. They look a bit like tomatillos, which Jenny & I have been growing successfully for a few years, but taste more like a tropical fruit I guess. I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen seedlings for sale around here, so I’ll have to look into getting some seeds.

In Italian they have a most unlikely name (alchechengi) and I recall that, in the early 90s, any self-respecting chocolate shop HAD to stock them chocolate-dipped. The wrap was reversed like the tail of an arrow, so you had this little chocolate ball with these dry leaves coming out at an end. Nice presentation, but the taste is off-putting. Yeah, it’s sweet, but the tomato undertone was a bit unexpected
Nice blog, BTW!
